Our Story
Pastor Rudi & Lee-Ann Young
Welcome to our Church!
Lig & Lewe Sentrum Paarl is an assembly of the Pentecostal Protestant Church that was founded in 1958 in South Africa.
We are a multi-racial Pentecostal church with mainly Afrikaans services and occasionally presented in English too.
In 1960, Pastor Pieter Heyneke joined the congregation as the first full-time pastor. They bought the current buildings in Rose Street, Paarl.
In years to come several other pastors led the congregation until Pastor Henry and Denmarié Young relocated to Paarl and joined in 1993.
The old church building was renovated and the wall between the hall and church building was broken down to accommodate the growing number of the congregation.
Birthed from our vision based on Psalm 36:9, the church was renamed to Lig & Lewe Sentrum
Our vision is REFLECTING LIGHT & SHARING LIFE.
- REFLECTING LIGHT – Our hearts desire is to help people know God more intimatley and find freedom in their lives. When we know God and fill our lives with Him, we are able to reflect the LIGHT of JESUS more when we know Him more and know who we are in Him. People must see Jesus in and through our lives in every area of our lives.
- SHARING LIFE – There is so much to discover in our journey with God. As we learn and as we grow in our relationship with God, we have the opportunity to Discover our Purpose, and through that, to Make a Difference
Pastor Rudi Young and his wife, Lee-Ann were ordained as co-pastors in 2009.
In 2017, they were inaugurated as the Senior Pastors of the church.
Their vision is to equip the saints for their ministry and to help individuals make a difference in the lives of other people and to be an influence in the community by Reflecting LIGHT and Sharing LIFE.
2018 marked the year of both our 60th Birthday as part of the PPC and our 50th Anniversary in our current church buildings.
At our children’s ministry, LifeKids, the children learn how to have a relationship with Jesus through a fun and creative curriculum.
At Lig en Lewe we build Fellowship, and relationships are important to us. We want to see people grow healthy relationships and grow together. We are a spiritual family in Christ, and as church we form a fellowship of believers that help each other to grow closer to God and develop in our characters. We need eachother.
Our hearts desire is to follow Jesus in every part of our lives, looking to Him as our LIGHT and recieving the LIFE that comes only from Him.
JOHN 8:12 Jesus spoke to the people once more and said, “I am the light of the world. If you follow me, you won’t have to walk in darkness, because you will have the LIGHT that leads to LIFE.”
